Dr. Xiaojia Ge Lifetime Achievement Award
To recognize an Asian/Asian-American scholar whose research career spans at least 20 years and who has made distinguished scientific contributions to the field of child development.
Recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award receive a plaque and a $250 cash award drawn from interest accrued from a cash donation by the Ge Family.
Early Career Award
To recognize a scholar who is no more than 6 years post-PhD or equivalent degree and has made important contributions to research on Asian/ Asian American families and children.
Recipients of the Early Career Award will receive a plaque.
Outstanding Contribution to Research on Asian/Asian Americans
To recognize a scholar who has made outstanding and unique contributions to research on Asian/Asian American families and children.
Recipients of the Outstanding Contribution Award will receive a plaque.
Outstanding Service Award
To recognize an individual who has contributed significant service to the Asian Caucus or who has represented the Asian Caucus at SRCD.
Recipients of the Outstanding Service Award will receive a plaque.
Outstanding Graduate Student Research Award
To recognize outstanding graduate student-initiated research (dissertation or other) on Asian/ Asian American families and children. The independent research must be conducted and completed while enrolled in graduate school. The research, which may be a dissertation project, must have been completed or published in the past two years and can be submitted up to one year after graduation. Anyone can be nominated but must be a current member of the Asian Caucus to receive the award.
Recipients of the Outstanding Graduate Student Research Award will receive a plaque and a $500 cash award.
Mentorship and Integrity Award
To recognize an individual who has contributed significant mentorship (formal or informal) to Asian/ Asian American scholars or someone conducting studies related to Asian/ Asian Americans.
Recipients of the Mentorship and Integrity Award will receive a plaque.
Nomination Process
Please submit nomination materials here.
Nominations must be received by December 15th, 2024. All materials should be submitted via the nomination portal. Questions may be directed to the awards committee chair Dr. Cecilia Cheung (ccheung@ucr.edu).
For the Dr. Xiaojia Ge Lifetime Achievement, Outstanding Contribution, Outstanding Service, Mentorship and Integrity, and Early Career Awards, nomination materials must include a letter of nomination (500-1000 words), a vitae, and two representative publications. Self-nominations are allowed.
For the Outstanding Graduate Student Research Award, nomination materials must include a letter of nomination (500-1000 words), a vitae, and either a reprint of the published study or a 10-page summary of the research (if not published). The nomination letter must include a description of the student’s primary and major contributions to the research and the extent to which the research reflects the student’s independent work. The letter also should explain why the research is outstanding and merits the award. Self-nominations are allowed.
